What it is
Qurani.Space is a free, browser-based flashcard app that helps you learn the vocabulary of the Quran in its original Arabic. Each card pairs an Arabic word with its transliteration, English meaning, and the actual Quranic verses in which the word — or one of its grammatical forms — appears. The word is highlighted inside every verse so you can see it in context, not just in isolation.
There is no account to create, no subscription, and no app to install. Open the site and start learning.
Who it is for
- Readers of the Quran who want to understand more of what they recite.
- Students of classical Arabic looking for a frequency-based vocabulary list.
- Anyone memorising the Quran (ḥifẓ) who wants stronger recall of meaning.
- Teachers and parents introducing Quranic Arabic to learners.
- Casual learners who prefer a small, daily, swipe-based study session.
What is included
- A curated set of 584+ high-frequency Quranic words, organised by part of speech: Nouns, Verbs, and Daily-Use Phrases.
- For each word: the Arabic, a clear transliteration, the English meaning, and the verses where it appears in the Quran.
- Multiple translator perspectives drawn from publicly available scholarly works (e.g. Sahih International, Pickthall, Yusuf Ali, Dr. Mustafa Khattab, and others).
- Highlighted in-verse occurrences so you can see how a root takes different forms across the text.
Key features
- Swipe-to-learn flashcards. Swipe right to mark a word as learned, left to flag it for review. Mouse and tap also work.
- Smart filtering. Narrow your stack by tag (Nouns, Verbs, Daily-Use Phrases) and by status (All, To Learn, Learned, Review).
- Verse context with highlighting. One tap reveals every verse where the current word appears, with the word — and its alternate forms — highlighted.
- Progress tracking. A live counter and progress bar show how many words you've learned and how many are queued for review.
- Privacy by default. Your progress is stored in your browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded, no account required.
- Mobile-friendly & installable. Works on phone, tablet, and desktop, and can be added to the home screen as a Progressive Web App for an app-like feel.
- Light, dark, and system themes. Toggle from the header or follow your device setting.
- Suggest an edit. Spotted a typo or a better translation? Submit a correction directly from any card — admins review submissions before they go live.
How it differs from other tools
Most Quranic learning apps are translation viewers, full-text readers, or general Arabic dictionaries. Qurani.Space is intentionally narrower: a single, focused vocabulary trainer that lets you build durable recall of the words that appear most often in the Quran, then immediately see those words in their actual verses. There are no ads, no upsells, and no algorithmic feed — just the words and the text.
Sources and accuracy
The Arabic Quranic text is in the public domain. Translations and transliterations are drawn from publicly available scholarly works and are presented for educational purposes. We strive for accuracy but Qurani.Space is a study aid, not a substitute for traditional scholarship — please verify points of religious significance with qualified scholars.
